Whatever kind of marketing you employ, whether is conventional such as leaflets or newsletters or web based, such as a website or social media, the core of what you do is the information you provide to customers and prospects.
This is what is known as content marketing. Specifically the method I use personally and also recommend is free content marketing.
Good quality free content is the key to establishing yourself as the expert in any marketplace and providing potential customers with great value before you even begin a financial relationship.
Where can I Get Good Free Content From?
The free content you provide can either be created by you, in the form of blogposts, articles or newsletters (printed or electronic) or it can be links to other peoples content.
You are of course better off providing your own content (or having someone custom create it for you – i.e., me!) as this is your own unique material then, and assuming the quality is good, you’ll get others linking to it as well, and sending traffic to your site.
It does concern some that if you send people a link that takes them to another site, you’ve lost them. In my view this is the wrong way to think of it. As long as your offer is a good one, people will remember you as being someone who provided the great information and most will come back.
More Traffic = More Leads = More Customers.
Its true, it is just like getting more people into a store – if you can get hundreds or even thousands in during the course of a day, just imagine what effect that would have on the number of sales you could make.
The Future.
For me, the future is doing something for your business that no-one else is doing. This could for example be either a podcast or a video. Both of these can be hosted somewhere else.
